Sevan, Dilijan & Haghartsin

On this tour you’ll discover Lake Sevan, often called the pearl of Armenia and counted among the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in Eurasia. You’ll visit the Sevanavank monastery complex on the peninsula, a perfect vantage point from which to admire the full splendor of the lake and its surrounding mountains. Afterward, you’ll continue to Dilijan, frequently referred to as the “Little Switzerland of Armenia” thanks to its lush forests and refreshing mountain air. You’ll stroll through the historic center of old Dilijan, a charming part of the town that lies within the boundaries of Dilijan National Park. The journey concludes with a visit to Haghartsin Monastery, a 10th-century monastic complex beautifully restored in recent years through a donation from Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, who was deeply moved by the site during his visit.

Lake Sevan

Lake Sevan, often called “the Pearl of Armenia,” is among the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes. This remarkable natural treasure lies in the heart of the Armenian Highlands, filling a vast mountain basin encircled by scenic ranges at about 1,900 meters above sea level. The surrounding area is part of a protected National Park, preserving its unique landscape and ecosystem.

Dilijan

This charming town in the Tavush region is often referred to as “Little Switzerland.” If you’ve ever visited Switzerland, you’ll recognize the similarities here: lush landscapes, dense forests, and a distinctive, pristine ecosystem. Dilijan lies within a protected national park and is regarded as one of Armenia’s key cultural centers.

Haghartsin

A splendid monastic ensemble dating from the 11th–13th centuries, Haghartsin is tucked away high in forested mountains where eagles nest, and its name in Armenian is often interpreted as “the dance of eagles.” The complex consists of three churches, two parish buildings (one of which has not survived), a spacious refectory, several chapels, and intricately carved khachkars. The oldest structure in the monastery is the Church of St. Gregory.
